Academic Program
A.C.C.E.S.S. Learning Center is a unique educational program that provides 1:1 academic tutoring and small group instruction in a well organized, positive environment for students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other developmental disorders. It is within a climate of unconditional positive regard that the A.C.C.E.S.S. Learning Center focuses on developing the full potential of each child. Our program and approaches to teaching are based on the most recent research on how our students learn and thrive.
We recognize that school programs offer so much more than just an academic education (ie. social skills, exercise, life skills etc), and each child will have unique needs and approaches to learning. Therefore we use a blend of assessment and curriculums to best serve the needs of each individual while developing the “whole child”. In addition, while academics are a focus, other primary goals are imbedded into activities based on the student’s deficit areas. These may include: strengthening verbal and nonverbal communication, encouraging curiosity to learn and discover, learning problem-solving skills, flexible and grey area thinking, understanding abstract concepts, improving language comprehension, learning planning skills, improving attention to task skills and perspective taking skills.
Flexible Scheduling
All academic programs are customized and individualized for each student’s needs. Prior to starting, we work closely with parents and school districts to determine the ideal schedule and amount of hours of academic instruction per week. Students are welcome to attend full or part-time at the A.C.C.E.S.S. Learning Center.
